The Overwatch League will be discontinued by Activision Blizzard's decision, as they plan to overhaul the approach to esports development in Overwatch. FACEIT Group is currently being considered as the new esports event operator and organizer for the upcoming ESL season. A community support fund of $6 million will be allocated to the existing teams.

The Overwatch League has faced persistent challenges, including financial losses, legal disputes, and sponsorship setbacks over the course of several years.
