The statement reads, "We thank the millions of players who joined our fight. Your adventures in Yara can continue without interruption in the online services. However, the development team will no longer release updates for Far Cry 6. We appreciate your passion, creativity, and love for Chorizo, and even Anton is proud of you."
Earlier this year, reports surfaced that Ubisoft is currently working on the development of Far Cry 7 and a standalone multiplayer game set in the Far Cry universe.
It is reported that Far Cry 7 is being developed using Ubisoft's Snowdrop engine, in contrast to the Dunia engine used in recent entries in the series. The multiplayer game is described as a shooter with elements of extraction taking place in the Alaskan wilderness.
Both of these games are reportedly scheduled for release in the fall of 2025.
Ubisoft has also made several appointments and promotions within the Far Cry brand, gearing up for the series' future.
In August, Sandra Warren, a veteran of Ubisoft Montreal, was promoted to the position of Vice President and Executive Producer of the Far Cry brand. Warren joined Ubisoft in 2006 and has been involved in the development of the Far Cry series since the release of Far Cry Primal in 2016. Her most recent project was as the brand producer for Far Cry 6.
